I can’t believe we’ve been home for a week already because that went fast. FAST. Almost as fast as the week we were there.
I am not going to recap day by day because no one wants to hear that. Basically the week was spent at the beach, going for walks, going for bike rides, playing at the park (in pajamas because it was cold in the mornings and we’re lazy), going to cool old book stores and playing board/card games. I realize this doesn’t sound like much, but it was exactly what I needed and it was a wonderful week.
Eli absolutely LOVED the ocean. If we hadn’t insisted that he hold our hands, I’m certain he’d have run straight in until it swallowed him whole, smiling the whole way. He LOVED the waves crashing on his feet and sitting in the surf as it ebbed and flowed all around him. He also got a big kick out of knocking over sand castles that his cousins built for him and trying to chase birds.
The other highlight of the trip for him was the giant sand pit in the back yard of the beach house, and though I managed to keep him out of it for 5 days (look, I don’t love dirt. I know I need to get over this, but I don’t need to get over it while on a relaxing vacation), Grandma snuck him out and boy did he ever have a good time with his cousins. A really gross, really messy good time.
One of the major highlights of the week for me, was Eli getting to spend so much time with his cousin Addie, who is 5 months younger than him. They love each other and while they get to play every few weeks, having this much time together was just the best. I can’t wait for them to grow up together and have the same memories of the beach that I have with my cousins.
Basically we’ve been home 6 days and I’m already counting down to next year.
