Sunday Stream of Consciousness
I am a terrible blogger, I am aware of this. It’s been a busy week and this week will be busier.
Tuesday at 1pm I sit for my board examination. Unlike medical doctors who can be “boarded” or not boarded, I have to take and pass my board exams before I can practice (and to be fair, my boards are WAY easier than theirs). You can’t practice without a license and you can’t get your license without passing the board exam, so that’s Tuesday.
Thursday is the California law exam (a shorter test on the laws related to my profession for the state of CA) which I have not done any studying for because it’s much easier and I didn’t want to try to cram that in on top of the regular boards studying. So I’ll finish my test Tuesday and get to study like mad Tuesday night, all day Wednesday and Thursday morning.
And then I wait. I should get all the results within a week. If I pass then I get my license and I can begin work anytime. If I fail, I have to wait and retake them in October. I can still work in a limited capacity if I have to retake them, but the likelihood that I’ll lose my job is high. I believe I have done everything I can to prepare and I think my education prepared me well, so I’m going to relax tomorrow and just do my best Tuesday. There’s nothing else that can be done.
Eli laughed for the first time yesterday. We thought it was a fluke, but he did it twice. And I cried, because, well, hormones. And because it was the cutest sound I’ve ever heard in my life. You guys, I just love this baby so so much.
The Olympics are on! I love the summer Olympics, my husband does not, which mystifies me. Diving! Gymnastics! Soccer! Beach Volleyball! What is not to love?
Besides Ryan Lochte, who is an epic douchebag. I’m sorry, you wear a GRILL on the medal stand? A diamond studded grill? No. Just no.
When did the gymnasts get so young? When did I get so old?
I love Matthew Perry and I really would like him back on television, but his new show looks terrible. It might just be bad advertising, and it’s not going to top Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip which was one of my favorite shows ever, but dude, this just looks terrible. Will the cast of Friends never have successful shows again?
So I think I finally found the answer to the mystery stomachaches. I had thought it was related to soda because I’ve had several days in a row of no soda and several days of no stomach pain. And then tonight, without soda, the stomach pain was back and pretty awful. And then my husband put 2 and 2 together for me. I’ve been having these super fun allergic reactions to exercise and duh, every single time we go for a walk, I get a stomach ache. Like, every single time. I can remember it happening a month ago, I can remember it happening last week. It’s not food or drink, it’s an allergic reaction to exercise, which p.s. is making losing the baby weight SO MUCH EASIER. It’s also making me crazy. I’m only linking to posts to save myself some writing here.
I also have a massive headache, which I’m pretty sure is a migraine, so I think I’m done for the night. It’s fun times around here for sure. Here’s to hoping that at the well timed doctor’s appointment tomorrow I can get a referral to an allergist (who will see me relatively soon? Please?) and some migraine medication that I can take while pumping because I’m over this stuff.

I take it you haven’t seen Episodes on Showtime? It’s SO funny and Matt LeBlanc is great in it thus ending the “Friends Curse”!!
Good luck on Tuesday!

I also have exercise induced hives but have never had any stomach issues with them…onset was about age 24 (I am 41 now). Doctors have all told me to take Benadryl prior to exercise (I take it approximately 15 minutes before my game or any exercise – including walking on the beach). They seem to be worse when I exercise in the cold weather (upstate New York) and seem to get better when I exercise/sweat on a regular basis. Worst time to have them was during my labors. Basically, they are annoying but fairly easy to control. Good luck!
