Monday Stream of Consciousness

I have no excuse for not posting last night except that I straight up forgot it was Sunday. Sad, but true.

My child has decided he wants to be a thumb sucker, but he does not yet have the coordination. The need to thumb suck is apparently most strong in his swing so he spends all his time in there smacking himself in the face and crying. It’s both sad and hilarious. He’ll get it for like half a second and then lose it again.

So studying for the boards could be going better. I mean it could be going worse too, but I just don’t have any desire to read the things I’ve forgotten. I forgot them for a reason. I have 29 days to get my act together for the exam. I know I can do it, I just need to get myself motivated. I think it was to my detriment that I did decently on the practice exam, it means I’m overly confident, which is never good.

We’re going on a trip this week to Santa Barbara. We toyed around with locations for a while and we very nearly ended up in Vegas, but we decided the heat and cigarette smoke would be too much for the baby. Santa Barbara is driving distance and gorgeous. As an added benefit, Eli gets to wear some of his cold weather clothes that he’d otherwise outgrow without wearing. Plus, beach! Granted I have no plans to lay out on the beach, but walks on it will be lovely. And studying outdoors with my family will be delightful.

If Grey’s Anatomy wasn’t on for 3 hours a day, every weekday, Eli and I would have nothing to watch.

It’s July, which means it’s time to avoid teaching hospitals at all costs because all the new interns are there, being new and the number of errors skyrockets. Speaking of which, my husband is finally in the final stage of his residency. He did 2 years of pediatrics, a year of adult neurology and now he’ll do 2 years of pediatric neurology, which is where he wants to end up. Also, he’s now a fellow not a resident, so he’s finished with in house overnight calls and pretty much works 8-5 now. We are pretty happy.

This is a little short, but I’ve got a fussy little dude in my lap, so I’m going to give him some attention. Have a great week everyone!
