I think rubbing alcohol might soak up and evaporate oil. You know, if you get desperate and just don’t care anymore about the possible risks of using alcohol-doused Qtips on your computer… (;

I hate computer problems! Like other commenters, I’d suggest an external USB keyboard (although I guess that reduces your portability). You might also get an external hard drive and just work off that for a while in terms of file storage. That way if the whole things crashes, you’ll still have all your data.But if it doesn’t, you won’t be out a lot of money!

I’m pretty sure you can take they keys off and mop up under there (I just did a google search of Macbook Pro removing keys and there are video tutorials!).

I have one – because I can’t stand the feel of the keys (I also can’t stand the metally (yes I know that’s not a word!) feel of any of it) so I use this.

Recently I was REALLY sick. I was coughing like mad and throwing up from coughing so hard. One night I was coughing violently and before I knew it I violently threw up – ALL over my keyboard. But!! But, keyboard cover saved the day – just took it off and washed it and not a drop on my keyboard!!

They usually have the clear ones in the Apple store.

Oh dear lord. Just what you need. Good luck with the laptop. Just tell Apple that it was messed up from a feminine issue. That usually embarrasses people enough so that they don’t ask any further questions.
If that doesn’t work, cry. Or flash boob.

my p doesn’t work on my pc laptop keyboard, or any of the function keys, shift or most of the numbers. i have an external keyboard that i plug in for blogging but right now i am using the on-screen keyboard, which is annoying but better than nothing until i can get it fixed.

my lack of caps has nothing to do with the keyboard. that’s just me being lazy.

Can you plug in an external USB keyboard and then use your laptop “normally” from that keyboard? They sell those all over the place for $25
