The Champions
Today did not start out the way I had planned. In fact, rather the opposite. And there will be time to talk about that, because it needs to be talked about. But not now. Not tonight.
I know that there are many people who think that football is silly and that what happened today was just a game. And maybe it was. But it was a game that meant a lot for a city that I love. It was one that meant more than just a victory in a sporting game.
The Saints won the Superbowl today. 4 seasons ago, people said that they’d have to take the Saints out of New Orleans and all the New Orleanians were outraged. Tonight, I hope everyone can see the symbol of hope that this team has been for the city. And more than that, how the city of New Orleans has risen up beside their team.
Congratulations to the Saints, and to the city who refused to give up on their team.

Welcome! I'm Katie, a 27 year old, full-time graduate student who just happened to have brain surgery in November of 2007 to give my ginormous brain a little more space. I am SO happy for New Orleans and the Saints. Myself and the four people I watched with were all rooting for them, not because we have any ‘real’ connection to NO, but because we felt they need all the awesomeness they can get, after the massive crap they went through, and are still going through, post-Katrina.
Great photos.

I’m a Colts fan, so I’m pretty upset. But it is nice to see them win (if I pretend that I’m not a Colts fan for a second). I was not impressed with the sob story surrounding it all, though. I mean, what happened in New Orleans because of Katrina was horrible — no doubt. It’s very heartbreaking. But last night’s game did not need to be enveloped in the tragedy. To me, just play the damn game! No sob stories!
I also wish that people would stop saying, “Fuck the Colts,” when I would never say, “Fuck the Saints” if we had won instead. But like I said on Facebook last night, I know who has more class.

I love both teams, so I was going to be happy with whoever won. I wonder if the people of New Orleans were as sick of the approach the media took as Elizabeth obviously was – you know, show the world how we have come so far, that we’re back, etc. I’m thrilled for the city and hope to visit it someday.

Yes, indeed. My family hails from New Orleans. It was a sweet day for all of us!

See what HOPE can do? And FAITH?
(This message was brought to you as a reminder for the next time you start to feel your hope fading.)

I could not have cared less about either team…but that was a great game.. and New Orleans is a great city… now if their government can pull their head out of their asses…well they are politicians.
